Restaurant Ramblings: Pestle Rock (Seattle, Washington)

I'm behind on posts....way behind.  I had the pleasure of visiting this amazing restaurant on my last visit up to Seattle. It is a Thai restaurant that specializes in Isan Thai food.  Isan refers to the Northeastern region of Thailand and the food is amazing!

This restaurant is located in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.  They use the best ingredients for their recipes.  The meat and seafood are sourced locally and organically when possible.  The food is amazingly flavorful and the staff make you feel at home.  I love their chalk board with the specials!
I had a hard time deciding when it came down to it.  Everything looks so delicious.  The specials sounded very inviting.  In the end I decided on the Muu Nam Tok (wild boar collar salad).  The Muu Nam Tok was Durham Ranch wild boar collar marinated and grilled with red onion, chili powder, lime juice and toasted rice powder.  The dish was a little spicy but well worth it.  I couldn't stop eating...seriously.  It was that good!!

I had to try one of the specials too.  I ordered the Phad Mee Noodles.  These were similar to Phad Thai but made with a thinner noodle.  I loved loved loved these noodles.  The waitress told me it was her favorite so of course I had to try them.  They rocked!  Of course I needed to wash my meal down with a Singha beer.  Yummy!!
If you're ever in Ballard, you have to check this place out.  The owner made it a point to go from table to table to check in on her guest.  It's personal and way too rare these days.  She was sweet!  I can't wait for my next visit to Pestle Rock!
