Restaurant Rambling: Salt and Straw (Portland, Oregon)

Salt and Straw is an ice cream shop here in Portland.  They hand make small batches of ice cream with local ingredients.  They started with a shop on NE Alberta and recently expanded by opening another branch in NW Portland.  They have some of the most delicious ice cream.  Their ice cream is made with 17% butterfat to make it extra creamy and delicious!  But shhhh, don't tell!

The flavors of ice cream are unique and delicious!  I've been here a few times.  So far I've tried the Sea Salt and Caramel Ribbons, Strawberry Honey Balsamic and Black Pepper and Almond Brittle and Salted Ganache.  They're all so good that it's hard to pick a favorite flavor!
If you find the need to do some experimenting on your own to find your favorite flavor, by all means, be my guest.  If you're not sure what to order, Salt and Straw makes it a little easier for you.  Belly up to the bar and they'll give you free tastes.  If you find a few flavors that you like, get a tasting sampler.  Or if you're the decisive type, order a single flavor.  They also have baked goods but the ice cream is way too distracting for me to have noticed.
