A Drought in the Amazon??

I read this article on NPR today that is a little disturbing. They were talking about droughts in the Amazon. WHAT? How could that happen and why? The Amazon is.....well, it's the Amazon for crying out loud.

The first drought occurred in 2005 and was epic. Scientists said it was so rare that it must happen every 100 years or so. But lo and behold, it happened again last year (2010). The article discusses the repercussions of severe weather changes and how it affects the world. It's worth a read.

Well, I guess it isn't surprising. You can only cut so many trees before the Amazon isn't the Amazon anymore.

It kills me that we (humans) are doing this to the planet.
