Celery Seedlings 2/11/11

Here's how far my celery's made it thus far. Doesn't look like much eh? They actually have their first set of true leaves. Go me!

They look good to me. I have never grown celery myself, for some reason it always seemed like a harder vegetable to grow.

I had not thought about starting swiss chard inside and I seem to have problems getting it to grow outside so that may be the way to go. I have a question though. I see you have several in one plug, do you thin it down to one or two or just leave it the way it is?

Becky-If you want to give celery a try, I have a link on my sidebar to the post I wrote up on growing celery. I had to research it since this is my first time growing it also. Yeah, try growing the swiss chard inside. They look like beet seeds so you would assume you can grow them like beets (right in the ground). I usually overseed when sowing seeds inside just to assure germination rates (also when using older seeds). Once the seedlings are a few inches high I go back and thin them to 1 or 2 per cell. That will be my project for this weekend!
